MSSDAR Genealogical Library

The MSSDAR Genealogical Library is located in the Scoper – Love Carriage House on the grounds of Rosalie Mansion in Natchez, Mississippi. The library is open daily during regular gift shop hours.  Check the Rosalie Website for seasonal changes in hours.

The library contains approximately 2,280 volumes of genealogy materials. In addition to records from other states, there is a large Mississippi section. There is also a large section on family histories. MSSDAR Genealogical Records Committee volumes, MSSDAR and NSDAR histories, NSDAR publications, information on other lineal and historical societies, and general reference materials are also available.

The MSSDAR Catalog Contents can be viewed HERE.  Each section is searchable via PDF.  Please CLICK HERE to open a new page where links to every section listed in the Catalog.  These sections will be updated as new books are donated to the library.

This library was begun as a traveling collection and was later combined and stored in the Eudora Welty Library in Jackson. When the Carriage House was built in 2000, provision was made for the Library Collection and it was moved at that time to Natchez. Our collection is comprised of some original materials from that traveling library and other donations from members and friends. Additions are made to the collection several times a year.

While there is no usage fee, donations are always welcome. Copies are available for a small fee.  Donations must be accompanied by this Form.

Please also review the Rosalie Library Policies and Procedures for usage of the library and enjoy this wonderful Power Point Demonstration that will give you more information about our Library and what to expect when you visit us.

Users should note that a CheckPoint security system is in use, and those with pacemakers should notify gift shop staff before entering the Library.

When you visit, please take a moment to sign our guest registry. It is our hope that users will find the collection useful and return for further searches.
