Happy New Year!

Dear Daughters,

With the approach of the New Year, I have been adding dates to my calendar in anticipation of events to share with family and friends as well as important DAR dates and other activities. I love the routine of knowing when and where I am expected to be. However, I also cherish those days when the calendar square remains blank for unexpected opportunities to spend those twenty-four hours.

Each of us in DAR has committed our time and talents in various ways to our chapters, …

Celebrating our “Lady on the Bluff”

Dear Mississippi Daughters,

Every Rosalie Day is a special occasion as MSSDAR celebrates our beautiful “Lady on the Bluff.” This year was even more remarkable because we also celebrated the 20th Star State, the great state of Mississippi and her 200th anniversary. An outstanding gathering of Mississippi Daughters and guests experienced an exceptional Candlelight Reception and once-in-a-lifetime Rosalie Day in October. Grateful appreciation goes to Rosalie Governing Board Chairman, Sharon Cothern Nettles, RGB Planning and Development Chairman Mary Francis Willard, MSSDAR Historian Martha Sanders Lawrence, and …

Catchin’ Up with Fall

Dear Daughters,

We are now busy revamping our Websites both public and private. Hellen Polk has agreed to be the advisor for this task. She and Shana Fondren, VIS Chair, are already hard at work on implementing my requests and many of their own. Shana is currently looking for a Calendar program so that we can post all MSSDAR pertinent dates, my State Regent’s schedule and the NSDAR dates as well. Shana has asked the Committee Chairs to post their forms so that they will all …

April 14, 2017

Our special guests enjoyed every minute of it, especially their visit to the Governor’s Mansion with Montine Bond. Thanks so much, …

A Special “Thank You”

State Conference has come and gone, but the memories will live on.  We crowned our new Rosalie Rose, visited with cherished friends and had wonderful opportunities to meet new and amazing people.  I encourage you all to visit our State’s Facebook Page where you can find numerous photos of the event taken by other Daughters and friends.  If you would like to add a photo (and we truly hope you will), please email Mary Ann Hess with your pictures and she will be happy to add …

A Message from your New State Regent

A Message from your New State Regent

Dear Daughters,

Before getting to business, I would like to take a moment to thank the Mississippi daughters for their love and prayers these past few weeks as our family has dealt with the sudden illness and loss of my husband’s precious father, Joseph McNamara.

Ray and I have been overwhelmed at your thoughtfulness and your support.  It has meant more than you can imagine to get home each day from helping his Mother and find the many loving cards and letters you’ve sent to us.  I especially …
